JAXSON Wins First iF Design Award in 2018

A Modern Hinoki Bath That Combines Kiso Cypress and Pure White Acrylic — “Cipresso Luna 1414”

The winning product, “Cipresso Luna 1414,” was recognized in the Product category of the award.

Based in Hanover, Germany, the iF International Forum Design is one of the world’s longest-standing independent design organizations. Every year, it selects outstanding designs from around the globe and honors them with the prestigious iF Design Award.

This year, a record-breaking 6,400+ entries from 54 countries and regions were submitted and rigorously reviewed by a panel of 63 design experts. Our Cipresso Luna 1414 was awarded for its unique and highly refined design and concept, which fuses an industrial acrylic bathtub with Japan’s traditional natural material, hinoki cypress.

“Cipresso,” the Italian word for "cypress," is a bathtub series that fuses Kiso hinoki, Japan’s prized traditional natural wood, with modern acrylic. This blend brings out the best characteristics of both materials.

Each tub is crafted with meticulous handwork, delivering delicate detailing and exceptional quality. The smooth comfort and easy maintenance of acrylic, combined with the calm, natural color tones created by the interplay of hinoki, acrylic, and water, create a bathing space of warmth and sophistication.

The dense, centuries-old grain of hinoki, with its gentle warmth and natural aroma, together with the silky feel of acrylic and the beautiful blue hue of the water, offer a bathing experience that delights all five senses.

The Cipresso Luna 1414 combines a perfectly circular acrylic bathtub—resembling a full moon—with a gently curved Kiso hinoki wood cover. This elegant fusion allows bathers to enjoy the natural fragrance and texture of hinoki, the smooth, skin-hugging surface of acrylic, and the serene blue tone of the water.

As the tub itself is made of acrylic, it offers significantly improved maintenance compared to a solid wood bathtub.
